Intersection Search
An Intersection Search allows searching to find where multiple groups overlap or do not overlap (Venn diagram).
Intersection Search Examples
Example 1: Use one “Also In” intersection
Use “And Also In” to find people who have an address in Georgia AND Alabama. The result of these searches is [The group of people who have one address where the state is Georgia and another address where the state is Alabama]. Criteria should reflect the following:
Example 2: Use two “Also In” intersections
Use two “And Also In” searches to find people who have an address in Georgia AND an address in Alabama AND a member status of Alumnus. Criteria should reflect the following:
Example 3: Using one “And Not In” Intersection
Use “Not Including” to find those people who gave to “Campaign A”, but did not give to “Campaign B”.
The result of these searches is [the group of people who gave to “Campaign A”, less any of those people who also gave to “Campaign B”].
Criteria should reflect the following (specific campaigns are shown in the following screenshot, but the illustration purpose is to demonstrate how to build the search, regardless of the specific Campaign values you define):
Example 4: Using one “Also In” and one “And Not In”
Use a combination of one “Also In” and one “And Not In” to find people who gave to “Campaign A”, but NOT to “Campaign B”, and who DO have an address in Georgia.
Criteria should reflect the following (specific campaigns are shown in the following screenshot, but the illustration purpose is to demonstrate how to build the search, regardless of the specific Campaign values you define):
Example 5: Using two “And Not In” intersections
Use two “Not Including” searches to find those people who gave to “Campaign A”, but did not give to “Campaign B” and do not have an address in Georgia.
The result of this search is [a group of people who gave to “Campaign A”, less those who gave to “Campaign B” and less those who have an address in Georgia].
Criteria should reflect the following (specific campaigns are shown in the following screenshot, but the illustration purpose is to demonstrate how to build the search, regardless of the specific Campaign values you define):
