Appeals
An appeal is a solicitation sent out to potential or returning donors for money. Can be sent via mail, email, or text.
Adding an Appeal
Left-hand Navigation: Fundraising » Desired Campaign » Configuration » Appeals
- Click "Add" (top right corner)
- Fill in the fields below (Bolded information is req'd)
- Name - Name of the appeal. Ex. "Tax Mailing"
- Code - Add a code (15 char. limit) to print on response devices - it will help track appeal performance.
- Type - Means of correspondence (Mail, email, etc.)
- Appeal Date - When will/did the appeal get sent?
- Goal - Insert a goal for this appeal. It can be as low as $0.
- Number Solicited - How many individuals received the letter/email/call?
- Active - "Yes"/"No"?
- If yes, the appeal will populate in the Appeal picklists during Donation Entry.
- Notes - Use this field to include notes about the appeal.
- Ex. "Second End of Year Letter sent to all alumni who graduated in the 80's".
In the Appeal Add process you can also add the expenses for sending out the appeal. Once an appeal is added, Click Appeals » select Desired Appeal » Edit/View Expenses.
When sending out appeals, you may have expenses that come along with that (printing/postage, etc.). Compass allows the ability to enter your expenses into the system to get out your cost per piece and see your net income for each sent appeal.
Editing an Appeal
Fundraising » Desired Campaign » Configuration » Appeals » select Desired Appeal » Edit in top-right » Submit
Allows you to edit any of the fields when creating an appeal.
Deleting an Appeal
Fundraising » Desired Campaign » Configuration » Appeals » select Desired Appeal » Delete in the right-hand side » Submit
- An appeal can be deleted if it was entered in error.
- If there are donations tied to an appeal, we suggest you inactivate the appeal to keep the history.
