Canceling Donations
Left-hand Navigation: Donor Record » Fundraising » Donations » Click Desired Donation » Cancel
- You will not be given the option to cancel a pledge that has any money attributed to it. If the pledge is not fulfilled but does show that money has been received, users will only see the "forgive" option.
- A record of the canceled pledge will remain visible on the individual's record. If applicable, reminders will no longer generate for pledges that have been canceled.
Note - You cannot un-cancel a canceled pledge. If for some reason, payment is received for a pledge that has been canceled, we recommend you create a new pledge for the donor. You can always add a note that indicated the payment was for a previously canceled pledge.
Deleting Donations
Left-hand Navigation: Donor Record » Fundraising » Donations » Click Desired Donation » Delete
- Delete a donation if it was made in error. For example, creating it for the wrong amount.
- Deleting a pledge with a payment attributed will result in the removal of both. Any payment attributed will be removed from totals and the pledge and payment will disappear from the interface.
- A Donation that is deleted (archived) In Compass can be searched on in a Donation and Transaction Search.
- A Deleted donation cannot be unarchived.
Best Practice - Reverse the payment and then delete the donation.
Notes - Deleted Payments within a Payment Batch
- If the payment is deleted when the payment batch is open, the payment will be removed from the batch.
- If the batch is closed when the payment is deleted, the deleted payment will be marked as "Deleted" in the closed payment batch.
- Note - When a user closes a batch, it's assumed you’re balanced. We don’t want to move money around. When payment batches account for deleted pledges, it helps ensure that no money goes missing.
